Hugo Wegbrans, a former AON PLC executive, has been named global head of broking and broking strategy by Willis Towers Watson PLC on Monday. He takes over the role left vacant by Joe Peiser’s move to AON in August.
According to Willis, Mr. Wegbrans will start in early 2022 and work directly with the global head of risk and broking, Adam Garrard.
Mr. Wegbrans was previously the leader of AON’s commercial risk solutions business’s global initiatives. Before that, he spent most of his 35-year career with AON, where he rose to the rank of global chief broking officer.
Willis released a statement saying that effective January 1, it would divide its business and leadership into two segments: risk and broking and health, wealth, and career. The move came after its merger with AON fell through.
As part of its rebranding, Willis Towers Watson PLC announced in August that Carl Hess will succeed John Haley as CEO on January 1, 2022, and that he would be designated president of the firm immediately.
