Snoop Dogg Drops NFT ‘Decentralized Dogg’

Snoop Dogg Drops NFT 'Decentralized Dogg'

“Decentralized Dogg,” Snoop’s debut NFT collaboration with digital multimedia artist Coldie, has been released on SuperRare.

In the final installment of the Decentral Eyes Portrait Series, the hip-hop star Snoop Dogg revealed his first nonfungible token (NFT) collaboration with artist Coldie.

The “Decentralized Dogg” NFT was coined on SuperRare on November 29th at 7:15 PM UTC and will be available for bidding until December 3rd. SuperRare is a digital NFT marketplace for purchasers who are ready to pay a premium for more unique items.

The NFT is a stereoscopic 3D collage of ten different photographs of Snoop Dogg from various times of his life, set to an original NFT-inspired soundtrack composed by the hip-hop legend himself, Snoop Dogg. The highest bid was 169 Ether, or nearly $760,000 at current values, at the time of writing.

The NFT drop is simply the “beginning of Snoop’s work in the NFT and art space,” according to Snoop’s long-time innovation and investment collaborator Nick Adler.

Snoop Dogg said he’d be “totally open to future collaborations with Coldie or other great NFT artists” depending on how well the NFT does. Snoop’s management contacted Coldie directly about partnering on an NFT through SuperRare, he informed Cointelegraph.

Snoop aims to maintain a relationship with the collector or DAO (decentralized autonomous organization) that purchases the NFT, said Adler.

“What’s exciting to us about the present climate is that we aim to keep evolving this piece.” “Perhaps we might utilize this piece for other projects,” he added, “like the cover of a future album or a book.”

Snoop’s management team has even discussed using the artwork as augmented reality labels on wine bottles or as a book cover, according to Coldie.

“This technology has encouraged me to rethink how I operate and disseminate my art into the world,” Snoop Dogg said in a recent interview on the NFT.

“You don’t only see it; you feel and hear it as well.” Do you like to Digg? I want this item to stand out in the metaverse as a symbol of my vision. “It’s Decentralized, Decentralized eyes,” says the narrator.

“The purple section is a homage to his hip-hop royalty,” says the NFT’s SuperRare description. The halftone and grunge effect on his left eye alludes to his status as an industry pioneer, while the Doggystyle references allude to his groundbreaking debut.”

On December 3, the artwork will be on display at SuperRare’s NFTnow x Christie’s trade show ‘The Gateway’ during Miami Art Week. It will also be on display at the Flagler Street Art Festival on Monolith during Miami Art Week, from Nov. 30 to Dec. 5.

Snoop revealed on September 21 that he has been hiding in plain sight as NFT Twitter influencer “Cozomo de’ Medici” behind a pseudonym. The account’s wallet has built an NFT collection valued at more than $17 million, which includes nine CryptoPunks and a variety of marijuana-themed tokens.

Coldie’s NFT collaboration with Async on “The Unfolding Dream” by John Van Hamersveld is also up for sale until December 10. He informed Cointelegraph that he plans to partner with Sarah Zucker, a fellow digital artist, in the future months.
